He made us out of dust

I love this song so so much!! We really are a masterpiece in progress, and its all about Him – nothing we can do can make us shine more, or be more like Him, nothing apart from Him!!

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Something to think about as we live our lives…
I don’t care how many buses you own
Or the size of your sanctuary
It doesn’t matter how steep your steeple is
If it’s sittin’ on a cemetery
I don’t care if you pave your parking lot
Or put pads upon your pews
What good is picture perfect stage
If you’re missin’ all the cues?
I don’t care if your pastor’s super-powered
And your program’s always new
What you need is love and truth
And men are going to come to you
It doesn’t matter that you know the Bible
If it’s all just in your head
The thing I need to ask you is
Have you done the things I said?
Do you love your wife?
For her and for your children
Are you layin’ down your life?
What about the others?
Are you livin’ as a servant to
Your sisters and your brothers?
Do you make the poor man beg you for a bone?
Do the widow and the orphan cry alone?
I don’t care if you pray for miracles
I don’t care if you speak with tongues
I don’t care if you said you love Me
In every song you’ve sung
It doesn’t matter that your sacrifice of praise
Is loud enough to raise the dead
The thing I need to ask you is
Have you done the things I said?
Repeat Chorus
Lord, when were You a prisoner
That we did not come to You?
When was it that we saw You sick
That we didn’t follow through
Every time you turned your head
And pretended not to see
When you did it not to the least of these
You did it not to Me
Do you love your wife?
With all you’ve got inside you
Are you layin’ down your life?
What about the others?
Are you living as a servant
To your sisters and your brothers?
Do you make the poor man beg you for a bone?
Do the widow and the orphan cry alone?

We’ve been thinking a lot, as a family, about the kinds of movies and music we should be enjoying. It’s not that we want to live in a cave, or only listen to choirs of chanting nuns, but we don’t want to make a habit of enjoying stuff that promotes or encourages sin.
Let’s take the movie Avatar. There’s been some friction from pastors we admire and respect, but watching a movie about big blue people bowing down to a tree is a little different from the insanity that is Black Swan. Funny story actually, my dad was once rebuked for allowing me to wear a teenage mutant ninja turtles t-shirt; I couldn’t have been more than 6 at the time.
So we have made a conscious effort to dump the movies/music that help sin. Not an easy thing admitting (or seeing, for that matter) how much actually makes us want to sin. On the other hand, it has afforded us the opportunity to find some rocking christian artists…

Sometimes at night
I am afraid
I cover my eyes,
Cover my shame
So here in the dark
Broken apart
Come with your light
And fill up my heartOh great light of the world
Fill up my soul
I’m half a man here
So come make me whole
Oh great light of the world
Come to impart
The light of your grace
To fill up my heartThe wind of this world
Can push us around
Folding us up
Backing us down
But here in the dark
I’m not alone
So come with your strength
And carry me homeOh great light of the world
Fill up my soul
I’m half a man here
So come make me whole
Oh great light of the world
Come to impart
The light of your graceOh great light of the world
Fill up my soul
I’m half a man here
So come make me whole
Oh great light of the world
Come to impart
The light of your grace
To fill up my heartThe light of your grace
To fill up my heart

Some of you might know I harbour a secret love for the 80′s… not the hair, but the movies, music and all.
Today I was in Look and Listen, and couldn’t help myself, I had to get the soundtracks to my 2 all time favourite movies…
All the good things came out in 1986… including Top Gun, Chris and myself …

I am a sucker for Andrea Bocelli’s voice… brings me to tears… added to the figure skating and a stunning female vocals from Hayley Westenra…
I have to share the lyrics in English too… How beautiful – as a commenter on YouTube said:
There are few times in a man´s life where he is ready to love a woman and only that woman for the rest of his life. This song, even though its dedicated to music, makes me feel like I want to find her.
I live for her, you know, since
the first time I met her.
I do not remember how, but
she entered within me and stayed there.
I live for her because she makes
my soul vibrate so strongly.
I live for her and it is not a burden.
I live for her too, you know,
and don’t be jealous:
she belongs to all those who
have a need that is always switched on
like a stereo in the bedroom,
to someone who is alone and now knows
that she is also for him; for this reason
I live for her.
She is a muse who invites us
to brush her with the fingers.
Through a piano
death remains far away;
I live for her.
I live for her who often knows
how to be sweet and sensual;
sometimes she stuns you but
it is a blow that never hurts.
I live for her. I know she makes me
travel from town to town
and suffer a little, but at least I live.
It is painful when she leaves.
I live in hotels for her.
It grows with supreme pleasure.
I live for her in the vortex.
Through my voice
it expands and produces love.
I live for her, I have nothing else,
and how many others I shall meet
who, like me, have written on their faces
“I live for her.”
I live for her
on a dais or against a wall
I live for her to the limit.
…also in a harsh tomorrow.
I live for her to the very edge.
Every day
a conquest;
the protagonist
will always be her.
I live for her because now
I have no other way out,
because, you know, music
is something I have truly never betrayed.
I live for her because she gives me
rests and notes with freedom.
If there were another life I’d live it,
I’d live it for her.
I live for her, music.
I live for her.
I live for her, she is unique.
I live for her.
I live for her.
I live
for her.
