Le Petit Artiste

3 Mar

“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
Pablo Picasso

At Mammas and Munchkins this morning, Elijah painted there lovely pictures with EDIBLE paint! He had heaps of fun… and insisted on giving the bottom picture to Uncle Daniel and the top one is especially for Ouma and Oupa.

Kudos to Cindy, Kirsty, Zoe and the team of fabulous creative mammas who organise the monthly Mammas and Munchkins meetings!

Shoe Decorating

20 Nov

I bought a pair of hemp shoes from a bead shop in Parow the other day, for R50, and I thought it would be super cute to put buttons on. This is how they turned out. Cost me about R65 in total, and I have buttons left over :)

New: Free Downloadable Quotes

6 Oct

I’m addicted to printables and free downloads.

Since I spend hours downloading from other people’s sites, I figured maybe its time to give back. This is my first attempt at the designing, so please forgive the flaws.

You can download this quote as a PDF here (simplify). Please use only for personal use, and not for resale.

Dream

25 Sep

I wanted to make something personalised from mama to son, for Elijah’s room. Something pretty that could fit the theme, and go above his cot/bed… for as long as its “cool”. SO I made this sign:

His theme is sheep – and I thought the “dream” sign was awesome as a baby decor thing – also the whole counting sheep idea…

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10:14-15

My First Attempt at Maternity Sewing

15 Sep

Since becoming pregnant, I have noticed a serious lack of affordable, pretty, and modest maternity wear. Its so frustrating, knowing I’ll wear something for 4 or 5 months only, and that stores expect me to pay over R300 per top. So I decided to buy some patterns and get sewing. Easier said than done… we couldn’t find a single maternity pattern. In the end my mom and I settled for some tunic style tops, and planned to just widen them or something, to fit my tummy.

Last Saturday I made this top… it did take me about 7 hours from start to finish, but it looks nice and is fairly comfy actually. I will just never try that material again, it was super slippery and I thought I was going to scream. Hopefully when the curtains and wrap that I have to make are done, I shall attempt another top, but from cotton rather.

Please excuse the bad quality photo…
